Paris will be honouring the memory of Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti with a new fascinating exhibition opening at the Paris Philharmonic. The exhibition, which runs from 20 October to 11 June 2023, will seek to recreate the atmosphere of Kuti’s nightclub, The Shrine, in Nigeria’s commercial capital, Lagos. The Shrine was a beacon for global stars in the 1970s, including Stevie Wonder and Paul McCartney.<\/p>\n

The new exhibition at the Paris Philharmonic, is co-curated by Alexandre Girard-Muscagorry and visitors can expect to see archives and unpublished photographs of Kuti and his band in action. The exhibit also includes a recreation of Kuti’s dressing room, where he would often take naps between sets.<\/p>\n

With its immersive and interactive elements, the exhibition provides a unique glimpse into the life and work of the Afrobeat pioneer. Fela Kuti who was also honoured by Greenwich for being the Father Of Afrobeat<\/a> was a man before his time, and his music still resonates today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
